Dr. Garton graduated from the Medical School at the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1976. His two-year residency in Internal Medicine was completed in 1980 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, also in Memphis.

Dr. Garton has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1980. He has been working at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge since 1980. Dr. Garton received his Primary Training in Hyperbaric Medicine in January of 2006.
